Very cozy with excellent customer service!

Waited 15 min . No service or anthing wasn't busy . People came in after us and got served . Guess they didn't want our business. We left they acted shocked . To bad Lisa's place was closed due to a water boil order. They are the best around . Purple onion could learn a thing or two from them about service . Won't be back big waste of time .

Tenderloin sandwich was pretty good, thin and crispy with a good batter, crinkle cut fries cooked as they should have been. Blueberry pie was above average, very thick and tasty

First time there thought we'd give it a try....It's a simple casual place to eat with very fair prices.The food however, was very basic and bland. I ordered a basic cheeseburger very dry and my husband had hot beef he said not much flavor in the gravy.We cook at home a great deal, so maybe our taste buds are more of a home cooked meal and that's we were hoping for here.

Had the homemade tenderloin, french fries and a strawberry rhubarb pie for desert. The food tasted excellent; tenderloin was just the right thickness with a crispy tasty crust; fries were crispy and flavorful; the pie was served warm with your choice of whipped topping -or- ice cream.Highly recommended.

Stopped for breakast at this quaint restaurant. Bacon, blueberry pancake, American fries were all cooked perfectly. Honey butter was delicious. Service was both prompt and friendly. A stop each direction as we travel across country.

This small town restaurant has a fresh salad bar that we enjoyed. The beef noodle soup had delicious beef broth, plenty of beef pieces and homemade type noodles. The handmade tenderloin was soooooo good.

I had the house tender loin and enjoyed it very much, dessert was a made that day rasberry crumble that was I dare say yummy. To top it off the service was great AND super friendly. Happy and full here!

Great place for comfort food!

It cost 17$ for 2 cheeseburger baskets..and the burgers were so small and cheap..and hardly any fries at all..pathetic..

We're talking about great home cooked meals served by friendly staff. There aren't many of these restaurants around. And do try their home made pie with crust like my Mom used to make.

On our way home to Michigan from Iowa, We pulled off I-94 in the hopes of finding something to eat. Just as we were about to give up and go on we came upon the Purple Onion. What an extraordinary find. It was quaint and clean and just a happy place. The service was exemplary and the food..... oh my goodness!!! It was fabulous. We ordered breakfast and to our delight, everything was cooked to perfection. There wasn’t a drop of grease on the eggs or potatoes. Oatmeal was perfectly done. I always expect oatmeal that’s like glue but not there. We have told everyone who will listen that if they’re ever going that way to be sure to stop there. We travel to Iowa often in the summer months to visit our brother who suffers from Alzheimers and it eases the sadness of our trip to be able to visit the purple onion where we know we’ll get only the best. They will see my family and I every time now. There and back. Oh one more thing we each took a piece of pie with us Yummy!!!😀

Good homemade food at reasonable prices!

The Food was delicious & the service was very professional. They made you feel welcome & comfortable, even during this pandemic. We stop for gas (traveling from MI to KS) and asked the Gas station attendant to recommend a local restaurant. I would highly recommend!

Great food, very reasonably priced.

Mediocre at best. On a Tuesday night at 6pm there were 2 tables with 2 waitresses and we still were left alone. Waitress never brought the bill and we had to hunt it down. Kid's drinks were never refilled. Food was meh. Box mac n cheese, mash potatoes tasted like instant and small portion sizes. Nothing really awful, but nothing exciting enough to come back for. Pie was good and the reason it was at least 3 stars.

Nice local restaurant that has a great menu. Try the pies. Super good. Very fresh homemade. I have been there several times now. Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner this is a very solid choice.
